Capitale Cultura is development partner of Fondazione Musei Senesi, one of the top systems in the management of museums in Italy. The collaboration focuses on marketing , innovative solutions and digital platforms, funded projects and fund raising, international plans for development. There are 43 museums spread within the land of Siena, joining the Foundation. With over 500.000 visitors per year, FMS manages sites of enormous international appeal, such as the Torre del Mangia in Siena and San Gimignano’s museums.
One system, which brings together institutions dedicated to different aspects of the Cultural Heritage (art and archeology, anthropology and ethnography, science and nature), in order to preserve and bring out, in a unified way, the wonders of a land that looks to the future while keeping the awareness of the extraordinary story it holds.
The Foundation, established in 2003, was created with the task of promoting this area and its extraordinary heritage, consolidating and developing the museum system created in the nineties by Siena’s Province, with the support of local institutions.
The final aim is to support museums and implement an integration with Cultural Heritage and excellences. A full interaction that allows one hand to optimize the use of resources and to create economies of scope and scale (even more essential at a time of economic crisis), the other to build integrated itineraries which are able to organically connect all the aspects of the local society.
The result is a network of museums that accompanies the discovery of the different souls of the territories that make up the Siena Province, Val d’Elsa, Chianti, Siena, Le Crete, Val di Merse, Val d’Orcia and Monte Amiata, the Val di Chiana. Seven lands forming an open-air museum with archaeological and fine arts masterpieces and several witnesses of knowledge, practices and customs of local communities.
